Is it too soon to start talking about digital marketing Christmas campaigns? Never!
The time has come to start mentioning the ‘C’ word, because before you know it, it will be right around the corner. Get ahead and start planning your Christmas campaign now, to fully make the most of the festive season as it quickly arrives.
We’ve decided to share some Christmas campaign ideas a lot earlier this year, as we’re already starting to see a few hit our social media feeds. After all, the longer you leave it, the smaller an effect it will have, and risks looking like you’re doing something just for the sake of Christmas.
With a good Christmas strategy in place, you can really make the most of the festive season and enjoy the downtime after the festivities are over!
Host an online advent calendar
Whether you’re a B2B, or B2C business, this idea can benefit your offerings in a number of ways! In 12 days or 24 days, you could give away a discount code, offer free packaging, highlight a featured product – there’s a variety of possibilities available.
This is a great way to get involved across your digital world, as each day you could put out a new social media post, a new email, or a new website header. This is a great way to have fun and engage with your customer base!
Share a Christmas giveaway
This is a more stereotypical campaign in the lead up to Christmas, but when done correctly it can be timeless. Giveaways are a great way to get your product or offering out there, whilst simultaneously creating an engaged community.
It can be as simple as ‘like, share and tag’, or you can make it as fun as you want it to be. Not only will your customers love the chance to win, but it also helps to attract more buzz and attention around your business – leading to more leads and traffic in the long run, and more awareness overall.
Utilise Christmas packaging
Another reason we’re sharing our Christmas campaign ideas earlier is to help with the practicality of some of these campaigns. For example, when it comes to the logistics of changing packaging etc. it’s always better to start earlier to minimise any hiccups along the way.
Logistics out the way, Christmas packaging can be a really exciting way to get into the festive spirit. You can announce it early to get people excited, encourage them to share user generated content of their products with the packaging, and even take a ‘while stocks last’ approach that gives customers the incentive to purchase this exclusive packaging before it runs out.
Last minute targeting
Even if you decide to leave it to the last minute, you can still take advantage of a Christmas campaign. In fact, there are groups of people that thrive off last minute shopping! If you can orchestrate it well with delivery etc. a last minute campaign can pay off quite well.
Along this same theme, you could announce an electronic gift card that has a specific Christmas design, to give the customer a last minute option. This also then encourages people to come back to the website to spend it!
However you choose to market your business this Christmas, make sure it’s a conscious effort rather than just a strategy to join the hype. It’s never too late to implement a campaign, as long as it has the right intentions!
